Senators defenceman Marc Methot suffered a gruesome injury to a finger on his left hand in a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Ottawa on Thursday.

    Looks like he chopped the end of his finger off, starting to notice the refs letting a lot of that shit go now

    Not saying that it wasn't a slash, but it doesn't look like that bad of a hit... aren't those gloves supposed to protect you? 8O

    Well you would think so Ray, maybe from a blade of a stick tho, not a handle on handle with a finger in between, with a slash that started over Sids shoulder or head. The proof was in the pudding, that was on the end of his finger

    Seems that because of the "rash" of hand injuries in the NHL, the brass is looking into the "why". One of the things they've noticed is the poor quality of the gloves... even calling them flimsy. I couldn't find a link for that though, just heard in on SportsNet.

    Why the gloves are "flimsy", I have no idea. In this age of stick handling and puck control, could it be that players are going to gloves that give them a competitive edge, even if they protect less?
