Eight architectural proposals for the Canadian Museum for Human Rights were recently unveiled. Developers hope that the project will create a distinctive, architecturally exceptional museum that will help eliminate intolerance through recognition of human rights as the foundation for human equality, dignity, and freedom.

“When people think of Canada, they’ll think of this building,” said Gail Asper, managing director of the Asper Foundation, which has raised $30 million towards the $60 million goal in private capital. Her father, CanWest Global Communications Corporation founder Israel Asper, who died in October, developed the idea for the Museum for Human Rights.
