Why would the burn the Blueprints? That doesn't make any sense, expecially after all that money that went into it... I suspect something fishy there...

I always thought the F4 Phantom looked to much like the Arrow to be a coincidence.

Huh? Didn't? Didn't get the chance is more like. For which we can thank this miserable SOB

Oddly enough, a Conservative. Wonder if that was some of the rationale behind not vending Radarsat?

I remember the Arrow discussion on the old UNA board, where the US neo-cons and their Cdn sell-outs all decided amongst themselves that the Arrow was canceled because it was infiltrated by the Soviets, quote CIA factbook about some pinko found in the National Film Board....
yet the next generation of US fighters seemed to copy a lot of the designs, and half the Avro staff got hired on by NASA.... infiltrated by , eh?

On the advice from Pearkes and CSC. Also, it should be noted, C.D. Howe recommenced cancellation prior to Diefenbaker. History is sometimes not quite as simple.

It was canceled due to outrageous costs and a momentary shift in Western strategic thinking. No conspiracy. It was just the wrong plane at the wrong price at the wrong time.

You know , creative thinking would of came up with an idea to salvage the money already used for the project. That too is just or even more shameful then them blaming the previous government of frivolously spending money.
Joint venture with another country to complete the project would of been smarter and profitable. Now it was just a pipe dream that could of been that cost us millions at the time.

Tho on the flip side of the debate about ending a previous government plan was when Chretien Took power for the first time ending the Conservative plan to replace the aging Sea Kings with the Cormoran (sp). That cost us money to cancel the perchase.

    Yup , wasted money again.
Conservative or Liberals its all the same story.
