My name is Mathew and this is my story. The Castle which was a low budget australian made film about a simple yet loving australian family (the Kerrigans) living beside a major airport (among other things including large power lines) in the Australian state of Victoria who forced to move because of airport expansion. The house which Darryl Kerrigan and his family calls their "castle" is not so easy to part with so they take the airport to court to save their home. The family itself are as simple as it gets, Darryl (the father) a tow truck company owner and his three sons Wayne who is in jail for armed robbery (darryl claims was hanging out with the wrong crowd),Steve (an ideas man), and the narrator Dale Kerrigan the most simple of them all (Dale dug a hole) and a daughter Tracy aswell as his loving wife Sal. The story itself of a small simple Australian family trying to bring down a major airport is courageous and yes heartwarming aswell as being outrageously funny, sure if you've never been to Australia or don't understand Australians you may walk out after the movie confused and bewildered infact but I think this movie deserves more publicity and support internationally because of its incredible australian style of comedy and brilliant tale of a small aussie family. I definatly recommend everyone who reads this see it at least once (if you can find it outside Australia) , its a bloody ripper!. In my opinion this movie is going straight to the pool room.
I''m an Aussie myself, the movie''s great, I just wonder if people from other countries miss some of the more Australian jokes. :) And, i found the last comment by you particularly amusing, as there is a new special edition DVD coming out here soon, The Poolroom Edition, guess it IS going straight to the poolroom!
test comment, was a pretty wacky movie!
