$1:
Michael Berlinka, Urs Frei and Roger Keller face up to five years in prison for their roles in the scheme, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

This is a bit of a joke, is it not?

It's mostly a joke because they won't be in jail for nearly that long.

Considering that US taxpayers are getting ripped off big time you would think the penalty would somewhat greater.

I don't suppose the citizens who bought into this would be suspect would they?

Go 1%

Taxpayers are getting ripped off big time, but the offenders have two things going for them. It's not a violent crime, and they most likely know judges and members of the SEC.

Too bad for them that they didn't sell a trillion dollars worth of toxic mortgages instead. They'd be feted as heroes, still be eligible for the year-end bonus bonanza, and wouldn't get harassed or annoyed by the government at all.

True story. Sad story, but true story. Unfortunately false advertising laws aren't that tough.

Sad all round, as far as I can see. Gluttony seems to have no boundaries. I cannot figure out why these people need this money let alone the lengths they will go to aquire more.

Maybe this story will at least open some eyes.

Some comedian gave a great description of Switzerland during WW2.

He likened it to a guy holding the wallets of two other guys that have "stepped outside" to settle things.
No matter who wins, you keep a wallet
