So, if someone gets hit by a ball, they blame the ball? I say ban parents (who can't headbutt) from the playground, and then the problem is solved.

Why don't they just ban the children, problem solved. And these are the idiots guiding children through school.

Like usual, no? People these days are too worried about lawsuits. And parents are too worried about injuries. A kid needs to get hurt a bit to learn to deal with pain. Just make sure that when they do, it's not too serious and they get taken care of properly. Children should have a stated right to danger.

That happens because they're pussies.

Ridiculous.

What's next? No more playing tag because someone could trip and fall while running? And don't forget about the many dangers involving skipping ropes! *gasp*

Shit, if you really want to avoid ANY possible injury then recess would come down to sitting still with your hands folded in your lap.

In a time when more children are obese than ever ANY type of physical play should be encouraged not taken away.

OMG this would normally be an April fools day story except that...its November!!!

People almost get hit by cars everyday, should be ban cars? I mean the stupid examples could go on and on. You are in a playground and get hit by a ball? Who the heck could have foreseen that possibility?

Principle needs a few shots to the head with a ball, a medicine ball!

They've banned balls in the playground during recess? What the Hell kind of activity does this school have for their phys ed classes. I would assume a good game of murder ball is definitely out of the equation, maybe a rousing game of checkers or an exhausting game of I spy...... get fucking real people or you're going to be raising a generation of overweight couch potatoes.

if kids are throwing balls at the teachers, then the teachers should be able to throw back....problem solved. Our homeroom teacher in grade 8 used to throw chalk at us....sometimes we returned fire and a war broke out....no one complained.

I suggest they dress all kids and teachers in full football gear. Then let them play and do what they want.

This is what happens when all the fun stuff outside is banned and only video games remain.

That one has happened already. They also said something about it promoting exclusion.

Good fucking grief! I remember getting a tooth knocked out by a floor hockey stick in gym class. I'd hate to see a school's over-reaction if that happened today.

$1:
Basketballs, soccer balls and footballs were banned from an Ottawa public school because teachers were concerned about injuries caused by frozen balls.

An elementary school in Colorado banned tag on its playground after some children complained they were being chased against their will.

Traditional schoolyard games like red rover and leapfrog have been banned at schools across North America and the U.K. by school staff concerned about arm and head injuries.

An elementary school in Australia banned unsupervised cartwheels, handstands and somersaults.

To discourage sexual behaviour, several schools in the U.K. have banned hugging and linking arms. One school banned all touching except to help a classmate who has fallen.

Bring on the nanny state.
