I think that is taking Canadian politics in exactly the wrong direction. More regionality is not what we need.

Each and every province will have good times and bad times. The whole idea behind equalization is to help those in the bad times get through to the good times.

How many years did Ontario pay out equalization payments again?

Complete side, what is the equalization payment per citizen and how does that compare with the other equalization payments?

Ontario will recieve $166.53 / person (2.2 billion)vs the other have nots:
Quebec: $978.27 / person (7.8 billion)
Manitoba: $1,351.56 / person (1.7 billion)
New Brunswick: $2,056.09 / person (1.5 billion)
etc, etc.

Doesn't stop them whining that Alberta was a 'have not' province in it's begining, but still continues to pay into federal coffers more than it's ever recieved.

The dangerous part is in that second article, where the smaller 'have nots' want to re-jig the equalization formula so their cuts remain stable.

The sad part is that we would all recover so much faster working together, than we ever will fighting for our "share".

No. Equalization is redistribution of wealth to poor provinces so they can give the same level of services than rich provinces.
