8.4 whole sick-days to 6.8 days for men? Yeah, that really shows women take 5 days off every 28 days.

$1:
“Look at who takes the most sick leave,” Mr. Thompson said. “Because you know, once a month they have sick problems. Not all women, but some do. They have children and they have to take leave off.”

Wanna give birth and trade? If not, then shut the fuck up.
Also, WE go home to take care of our SICK KIDS because WE are the ones that you expect that from.
1.5 extra sick days and you fucking blame that on "being a woman". Asshole.

I wonder how much time he spends with his children and on the housework? Oh wait, he has a WIFE to do that for him, despite her job.

Maybe women should just stay at home in the kitchen, where they belong.

I'll go hide under my bed for a week now.
I'll check to make sure Brenda isn't around before coming out. 8O

He should not have said this in public. He should have just quietly kept it to himself and quietly acted upon his observations.

Back when I ran restaurants it was not the periods that bothered me, but the single moms. I quietly did not hire single moms because my experience had shown that they'd call in when their kids were sick and as cold as that sounds to some of you the fact of the matter was that I was running a business and not a social program.

If "Monica" didn't show up in the morning to do salad prep then that meant I had to come in at 7:30am after having left the place at 2am the night before to do the salad prep. And then I'd have to work her shift through lunch and then stay and work my shift until 2am or even 4am if it were a Friday or a Saturday.

I'll tell you, you stop giving a sh*t about political correctness after working 20+ hours on your feet while only getting paid for nine.

Oh, and I also didn't hire smokers because those people take cigarette breaks all day long while everyone else only gets the breaks they're supposed to take. It's unfair to nonsmokers and I also didn't like someone working seven hours and getting paid for eight.

Not just single moms go home for the kids. Married moms do too. Because dads "have to make money" and moms "just have a little job"...

I'm just relating my experience and personal observation.

The married moms I had in the restaurants typically had family to take care of the kids when it was needed. The single moms, again in my personal experience, did not.

Prior to my implementing that quiet policy of mine was probably the hardest year or so of my married life. Mrs. Bart didn't see me that much and when she did all I wanted to do was sleep. My sacking out for 15 hours at a stretch on a day off was not unusual.

So no offense to you, Brenda, I'm just saying that for myself I did what I had to do and if I hadn't done it I would've been divorced around 1990 at the latest.

And yet you (and a large portion of your country) seem to be firmly of the mind that these women should have little choice but to have the child and things like social assistance is socialist commie programs and now you tell me they should face great restrictions towards them doing a noble thing like actually earning a living.

On one hand you have previously lamented on western society (well you term it liberal society) and its lack of child bearing then seem to support every possible choice designed to discourage that choice apart from the old skool (get it) belief that women stay home and have babies while the menfolk hunt the mammoths.

No offense taken. It is what it is, and most bosses I met are like you. You have to do for your business what you have to do. But I have to do for my children what I have to do. I cannot leave them sick alone. Priorities. Mine are with my kids.

BUT, because of it, most moms still have "just a little job". You can't work a career and raise children to be healthy, responsible adults.

Not every one has the luxury of a helping family. I don't have it here, but I also didn't have it in The Netherlands.

I was in the hospital with my youngest one A LOT in the first 2.5 years of her life. Daddy didn't have time to pick up my older one from school or stay home to take care of them when I had a 40.5 degree fever. Work...

I guess that I am pretty lucky, I take time off because my kids are sick all of the time, even take vacation time when needed. My wife and I usually split time off 50/50, when I am home, but when I am away for weeks or months at a time it all falls on her. so being a modern husband I do what I can.

This guy is a clown and should have some serious repercussions for saying something so stupid!!
