By no means a photography expert here, but that particular pic seems photoshopped.

Then, if not, then that's pretty good.

Vancouver riot kiss couple 'beaten by police' just moments before photo
http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/te ... 6079188137

$1:
THE Australian whose kiss in the midst of the Vancouver hockey riots went viral claims he was assaulted by police just seconds before the iconic embrace.

Perth man Scott Jones was photographed lying down in the middle of the street kissing his Canadian girlfriend, Alexandra Thomas. Details of the photo have until now remained unclear.

Mr Jones broke his silence to tell how riot police hit them with their shields as he and his girlfriend tried to escape the violence.

He told CBC the pair had left a bar where they had been watching the Stanley Cup final, when they became caught up in the riots.

"I went back towards her. They [the police] started beating us with the shields trying to get us to move," Mr Jones said.

"I don't know why, we weren't being aggressive towards them or anything like that, but eventually they passed over us and that's when we were on the ground.

"I was just trying to calm her down, it was pretty scary for her and it seemed like the best thing to do."

Mr Jones said his partner became "hysterical" after the assault.

"I personally think they [the police] over-reacted, they treated us all like criminals," he said.

The couple said that the aftermath from the game was not the type of excitement they were expecting.

"It happened so fast," Ms Thomas said.

"I never expected it to turn into that situation so quickly."

The couple started dating six months ago after Mr Jones moved to Canada from Australia.

They plan to move to Melbourne after a three-week US holiday.

Video Interview located on above link.

I dunno... I kind of feel bad that they got caught up in it, but during such an environment the police need to make sure people keep their distance from them due to safety concerns, and if they were close enough to be "Beaten" by their sheilds, I'd say they were a little too close.

But hey, on the plus side, if they're moving to Melbourne, I'll say hi.

Ah, I missed this thread when searching for a duplicate.

$1:
The couple caught kissing by a photographer during the Vancouver Stanley Cup riot have hired an agent and are heading to Australia to kickstart a comedy career.

Scott Jones, 29, came to Canada from Australia to pursue stand-up comedy. While working as a bartender he started dating Canadian-born Alexandra Thomas.

The couple became instantly famous after Getty photographer Rich Lam snapped a photo of Jones tenderly kissing Thomas after she was injured during the riot in Vancouver last Wednesday following Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final, which the Canucks lost.

The photo went viral and caught the attention of media and talk shows around the world. Now Jones is using the instant fame to help kick-start his comedy career back in Australia.

Jones and Thomas were already planning to head Down Under to work before they were caught up in the riot, but now they will be doing it with the help of a publicity firm that will organize gigs, endorsements and public speaking events.

Sometimes the darnedest things lead to great opportunity. Good luck to the both of them [B-o]
