I am so happy to hear that France has recognized the true leadership of Libya. Hopefully, many other countries will follow suit and gain more support for the rebel forces in Libya. The rebels in Libya are fighting for democracy and freedom, it is an absolute tragedy that they have to die for this cause in today's world. The UN needs to step in and help these innocent people so no more blood shed can occur. The NLC should be considered the country's legitimate government and Gaddafi needs to step down.

This is one battle the West should stay out of, why not let the Arab world help it's Islamic brothers and sisters?

I can't help but feel that a lot of the reasons France is doing this stems from the Michele Alliot-Marie scandal, and how she handled the Tunisian uprisings by being on vacation there, having contacted the dictator in power, used the private jet of a wealthy relative of the Tunisian dictator and, worst of all, suggested France could help train their incredibly disliked police forces to more effectively keep down revolutionary persons within the nation (who had killed demonstrators).

Of course, she was then forced into doing some basic housekeeping while others basically took over her job for situations of actual import, until she was forced to tender who resignation mid-February. I can't help to believe that following that upset and the public reaction to it from the French people, Sarkozy and his government have taken the other extreme by recognizing a state before it's even finished it's revolution. That has the EU all ruffled up. Swinging from one extreme to another.

In related news, both the UK and France have threatened to launch targeted air strikes should Libya continue to use air strikes or make use of chemical weapons. The US has also sent an envoy official to opposition forces in Libya, and is supporting the implementation of a no fly zone (which the UK and France are in Brussels to secure backing for from the EU when it comes up in the UN). In general, other news is generally becoming more and more anti-Kadhafi, from supporting aid zones to supporting embargoes.

Libya is on its way back to Gaddafi's hands.

But...Europe's problem.

Obama, and Harper both get +1 for not jumping the gun as Cameron wants them to by imposing no fly zones.

I can't suss out why Cameron was even considering military action as he's slashing the UK military while they are in combat.

Maybe they're considering bombing Libya with the recently confiscated Human Breast milk ice cream, in the hope that they'll get food poisoning. Since it's the UK, I'm sure it's halal human breast milk ice cream.

Well the UK's armed forces reflects its needs. It's no longer a global Empire, so it no longer requires a global army. It still has a world class Navy, and honestly, it does it need more than that?

The Arab Union this morning announced that it approved a no fly zone. I say, good for the Arab Union, now lets see them walk the talk.
