$1:
International Co-operation Minister Bev Oda admitted that she ordered a document to be doctored to deny funding to the church-backed aid group Kairos.

The word "NOT" was written into the text regarding funding for Kairos, so the initial recommendation of giving money was reversed.

That's some transparent and open governing right there.

I'm glad this government is so much more open and trustworthy than the last.

This is why I generally vote for the green party. Their hearts are in the riught place and they're not likely to ever be in a position to disappoint me the way almost all politicians generally do.

Unsound Unsound:

Well not unless they form a government. Then it'll be the same old story. You can't be elected to power without bullshitting, and you definitely can't run the country without it. We just can't handle the truth.

But it kills me that the Reformacon supporters think their guys are on the side of the angels, and only the Lieberals are capable of corruption. The longer a party is in power, the more corrupt it gets. No matter which party it is.

They all become the same besides a few ideological differences. Car sales-guys running the country.

I don't agree with the car sales part. Most politicians are decent people that want to make a difference. But they get twisted by a system that we the people force on them. So many conflicting demands we make on them. Ultimately we're all "keep your government hands off my medicare" types.

Plus of course the overlords must be kept happy, or you won't get and retain power.

I dunno andy. I have been at close quarters with a lot of politicians, municipal, provincial and federal. They are all of the same ilk.

Positional power drives them. Sure some of them want to do good but their own careers’ take priority over the welfare of us mere plebs.

At least there's some legal recourse when a car salesman screws you over. When a politician promises one thing and delivers another, all you can do is vote against them the next time around.

OMG, can you imagine if the NDP got elected? Then we'd really have a used car saleman running the country 8O

But I do agree with EB to some extent. I know Bob Rae isn't every politician but let's face it, Rae would jump to the CPC if he thought he had a chance at the PMO.

I have no doubt that the majority of our politicians would jump parties if it meant moving up to a higher rung on the ladder.

People get into politics for three reasons only; prestige, 'easy street' and $$$.
