At first glance it would appear that our judicial system is once again punishing the victim but until I hear if he was robbed before and if so how many times, I'll hold off on passing judgement on his actions.

Does it really matter if and how many times he was robbed before? I mean, these people were on his property stealing his stuff...

$1:
The wounded man was flown to hospital by air ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

Exactly WHY?

Sure, but chasing a thief down and shooting him, while extremely satisfying isn't exactly considered self defense. Had he got him on his property maybe, but hunting the scum bucket down and attempting to shoot him miles away isn't exactly a defensible action, especially if it's the first time he was robbed.

But either way the guy is gonna get screwed. The theif gets an unecessary ride in an air ambulance and likely nothing for punishment, since theft under $5000 is a nothing charge, while the farmer is likely to end up with a large fine, jail or at best probation. So if that happens it'll confirm what I said before about the judicial system once again punishing the victim.

Sure I mean response time in that area is pretty quick I'm sure. I'm betting what, 20 minutes is fast?

Still the thing is, once we allow one cowboy to blow away a thief (Property loss does not = killing someone in my mind either) we open a whole Pandora's box of reasons to start opening fire and that just ain't good.

Well, you're right. It doesn't equal killing someone. I mean, it is a quad, the guy wasn't raping and killing his wife or something...

20 minutes (if at all...) sounds great! ;-)

Emotionally tho, I can understand his actions... Then again, emotions and law don't go well together, and rightfully so...

Actually, he should have caught the guy and put a bullet in the back of his head to stop him for stealing further... right?

The farmer got what he deserves.. in fact he got off lucky. One does not fire at a fleeing suspect. Don't want your property stolen, secure it.

There ain't no law in canada that lets you pop a few off at someone running away from you after they stole your shit.

wrong.

For a change, this was not a sarcastic post. He actually should just have called the cops...

Not on private property.

Don't touch other peoples stuff, how about that?
