Primus and Shaw have said they will begin passing on higher fees to their customers beginning Feb. 1. Primus, for example, rents bandwidth on Bell's networks and said Bell is inflating the costs for everyone, including them.
The CRTC refuses to protect consumers from price fixing, therefor it serves no purpose anymore.

Yeah. Over the air broadcast needed a regulator to decide who could broadcast on what frequency, the new digital OTA broadcast does too. It doesn't do a thing for regulating wired ISPs though. Ever.

Rogers has had a cap for a couple years now, but I've never hit it, even when I used to download a lot of bit torrents.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
Time to go play with other ISPs I guess. Go screw yourself Shaw.
I like this 'most agreed' comment on CBC:
$1:
Everything, and I mean everything, in our family budget has increased over the last year.
Damn shame my pay hasn't.
Where will you find an ISP who doesn't purchase their internet access from Bell Canada though?

Shaw has served me well for the past several years... but if they pull nonsense with my account they will be turfed from my household so fast heads will spin.

Ditto for Rogers. Satisfied with the service, but it's not unnoticed that they always seem to be the most expensive game in town as it is.

Well, got a notice from Roger's today. My bill is going up a whole $3/mo in March. Zero mention of usage based billing yet.

Here we have an opposite situation, in my city there are 9 internet companies who are fighting for their clients. 3 of them are controlling most part of the market providing cheaper and better services, so as a result we have a very wide choice with good prices. 90grn(11,25 $) per month for 10 mbt. In compare with everything else internet and cable tv are the cheapest products here.
