$1:
Vancouver police Const. Lindsay Houghton says the force is aware of the ruling but will not stop prosecuting such offences until they are removed from the Criminal Code.

That sounds almost like a protest. If only to finally make up their minds.

Not really a protest. The ruling was from an Ontario court so I would presume it only applies to Ontario law. Never mind that the Fed is appealing the ruling as well.
If the SCC upholds the Ontario ruling, then it'll be a different story if police keep arresting participants. Albeit my presumptions come from having pretty much zero knowledge in this area of law and if this type of activity falls under provincial or federal jurisdiction.

A bawdy house is illegal by federal law. Pretty sure it's in the criminal code.

It's just that everyone knows what kind of business you're planning on opening when you apply for a Escort license And thats why they cost 300$ to 600$ a month. For the extra policing.

And it's only enforced every couple years mostly for political motives of one kind or other.

It's politer than whore house or brothel, and another politer euphemism is gentleman's club.

No, it's an old British term. I think it is even used by the Americans in their legalese as well.. It covered any building hosting disreputable activity\ies including gambling, prostitution, illegal alcohol, opium dens and such.
