Because Canada is a branch plant economy. And because of the messianic zeal of Americans - look at all the ones on this forum.

The CIA tried to topple Lester Pearson by trying to get dirt on him because they didn't like his policies like selling grain to the Russians and not going to Vietnam. They interrogated his friend for so long he died of a heart attack. So the NRA is just doing what comes naturally.

Sorry. You folks let that genie out of the bottle when your ambassador and government endorsed Al Gore in the 2000 election and when your Liberals joined with British Labour to openly and directly attempt to influence the 2004 US elections.

If your government will act to influence our elections, we will act to return the favor.

Sorry. You folks let that genie out of the bottle when your ambassador and government endorsed Al Gore in the 2000 election and when your Liberals joined with British Labour to openly and directly attempt to influence the 2004 US elections.

If your government will act to influence our elections, we will act to return the favor.

I think you have the timing reversed. I mentioned Lester Pearson, and an attempt to depose a sitting prime minister. He came way before Al Gore, and trying to depose a PM is a litle different than endorsing a candidate.

Why don't the see the double standard? Many Americans (quite rightly IMHO) were angered by British citizens who lobbied them not to vote for Bush back in 2004, yet they have no problems sticking their noses into our business here.

Then the matter is an old tradition that we screw with each other's politics.

After the multinationalists get their way and establish the North American Union it'll all be moot anyway.

Limiting this to the NRA, the reasoning for the NRA being involved in Canadian gun policies is legitimized due to the repeated and ongoing calls for gun controls in the USA by Canadian politicians who would rather ask Americans to ban guns than to ask Canadian Mohawks to stop smuggling them.
