The decision to release this sub-primate was indeed wrong and misguided, but the fact that there is no evidence is testimony to how well the English and BP can shred data and delete records and lie like hell.

Nice one.

Sorry for the rotten spelling. I was ticked off when I entered it and went back and corrected it.

British and European corporations are just as skilled at controlling their local politicians as the ones in North America are. Considering the estimated revenues to be made off of the Gulf of Sidra projects, it'd be more shocking if BP hadn't pulled every string possible to get the Libyans on side, and that includes pressuring, threatening, or bribing the Scots into having the Lockerbie terrorist released. Anyone who thinks that it's just the Yanks to blame for the destructive worldwide rampage of the huge multinationals, and all the evil politicking that always goes along with this bullshit, are just kidding themselves. Wherever there's money to be made you will always find this kind of behaviour on full display.

Just wondering also what mental state corporatist thought most closely approximates. Megalomaniacal definite applies to practically all of them. But what else describes them best? Sociopathy? Psychopathy? Full-blown psychotic?

And, no, this is not me endorsing communism or marxism or any of that other shit. This is just a reminder that when you choose the lesser evils over the greater ones, you're still choosing an evil over other alternatives and thus have to accept the consequences that accompany that choice. Such is life.

It's been pointed out that successful execs score higher than average on the psychopathy scale. I think there's a (un)healthy dose of narcissism at play here too.

Doubt if many of them are psychotic, or they couldn't function.

But mostly, just look at it as operant conditioning. This behavior is rewarded and as long as the profits roll in even admired. Michael Douglas talks about how many business types come up to him: "Gordon Gekko, you da man."
