If the Muslims press the issue I wonder what the French will do to enforce it? Given the riots from a few years ago the Muslims have already reached critical mass in parts of France so I wonder if the rioting will become a revolt as this issue is confronted?

At least the French legislature is still ruling like it still is the French legislature and not some Islamic vassal state.

I see many 'martyrs' for this cause.

The pinkies will be dressing up in burkas just to get a fine and go to jail.

This isn't gonna work.

Sure it will. The Turks banned the fez and that worked so there's no reason why this can't work, too.

It's too highly politicised Bart. The Turks can do that because;

a) They are Muslims.

b) Secularism was a founding tenet of that republic under Attaturk.

c) They are Muslims.

I see their point but it's fixing a wrong with another wrong. It will just be a ‘cause celebre’ for those on both the far-left and far-right.

There’s more to the Islamic thing in France. A lot of this is a hangover from the French Empire. Algerians have always had an uneasy relationship with France ( look at 1960’s Algerian and France) as have other North African immigrants in France.

It’s a very complicated issue and this ‘law’ will just heighten tension further.

This isn’t the way to do it and there will be a lot of trouble coming to and in France because of it.

The proper way to get Muslim women to stop wearing veils is to make veils mandatory for sex trade workers.

Banning is just kinda silly.

Perhaps heightening the tensions is the very goal here. If the Muslims who want this kind of thing enforced in France can't abide not bagging their women in public then maybe they will leave or react violently to the point that the French will have justification for sending them back to Algeria.

That might be one way to get rid of the trouble makers. If they can't tolerate the idea of not forcing their women to wear tents the probably will do something else stupid.

I don't know if the Muzzies there will riot over this. They seems to enjoy doing that.

Apparently a large number of the women that wear the burka in France are French born, white converts who want to show their devotion to Islam. These women aren't going anywhere, since France is the country of their birth. And they're probably committed enough to test the ban, garner a lot of sympathy.

Who in their right mind is going to going to wear a tent in hot weather? The answer is in my question.
