I'm not use to giving three cheers to the Russian military forces, but in the case of handling piracy it hard not to.

The pirates were expecting the Russians to be choked by the PC BS that haunts many nations. They went in there retrieved their ship and crew and captured the bastards. Good Going.

They are going to Moscow to face justice? I hope they find the Lubyanka cells "uncomfortable".

Yeah, attacking a Russian tanker is not a good idea. I'm thinking the Russians will not have any qualms about sending in the Spetznaz guys to deal with the Somalis.

I can't imagine that the Somolis would be stupid enough to attack Russian flag ships. The Russian as a matter of history are not gentle PC folk when it comes to this sort of thing. Russians have come down hard and heavy on a lot less than this. Did they really think that Allah (and their greed) would protect them?

It's not a Russian ship, its a Marshall Islands flagged ship. Personally I'd just sink every hijacked ship. The collateral damage is within acceptable ranges to me.

This tanker wasn't Russian, but a Russian tanker was siezed today and the Russians rescued it and the Crew and captured the bad guys.

It's more run to talk about that one than this one which the crew and the ship are prisoner.

We Americans like the idea of sending in special forces to rescue the ship, the crew in a politically incorrect manner. The pirates that the Russians took back to Moscow may wished that they mericifly threw them overboard. The FBS is still run by KGB doctrine and methods and they are much more interested in maing the point that one doesn't touch a Russian flag ship and expect to get away with it.

The pirates that hijacked the Russian tanker that were captures and sent to Moscow may well be digging a large hole in the sand, but it won't be for hiding their loot.
