I'd say most politicians are under sway from one group or another; unions, minority groups, and corporations. Very rare to find a politician who is working in the interest of Canada.

No doubt, but getting funds from a foreign government is far different than getting money from a corporation or union located here in Canada.

Kinda scary eh? At least political correctness isn't stopping this from getting out.

I tell ya, time to scrap dual-citizenship. Commit to Canada or don’t get citizenship. You can’t be loyal to two countries.

I'm all for it.

But all must be treated equal, which means Brits, Aussies, Euros and Americans should also have to comply and choose one, just like Sri Lankans, Indians, Somalians and so on.

That being said, I've said it before, and I'll always remind people, it's only 'bad' when we're assuming these people are from brown/poor countries (and Russia ROFL).

If tomorrow Europe was invaded by China (hypothetically speaking ), I bet most Canadians with European backgrounds would be working very hard to get Canada to jump in and help Europeans. Let's not beat around the bush YOU KNOW YOU WOULD...EUROPEAN descendants and sympathizers. I know I would feel a bit uneasy at having my European (and non European) family members squashed like bugs by some powerful foreign (or even domestic) military force.

So let's drop the double standard and get on point.

I agree.

I was born elsewhere where they speak a different kinda English. I'm a bit brown but I haven't renewed my UK passport since it expired 8 years ago. My Canadian one is current. I can also claim an Irish passport (Eire) but my nice blue one does the job.

If parliament decided that I had to make a choice and renounce my UK citizenship to keep my Canadian it would be an easy choice.

I did cheer for the Lions today though!

You're the first Irish I've come across who cheers for England.
