Next time the girlfriend asks me to get her some ''pads'', I will agreeably go out to get some.

Although, she could be in for a bit of a surprise when she sees this kind of IPad.

Yahoo did a check on the users to their portal that used ipads. Nearly 70% were men aged 35-45

The prices on these things are insane, no one with any sense would pay what they are asking.

It sold more than the iPhone when it launched.

I stand by my statement.

Ipad is designed to consume media and made for ease of use so anyone from 8 to 80 can pick it up and use it in moments. They have done exactly what they intended. Its more then an ereader and less then a laptop.

It's a neat toy... but I can buy a netbook that can do more and cost less.

I'd like one, but not at $499 (at least). No way.

It is 6X the weight of an Ipod Touch, same memory, same storage space, bigger display a CPU with all of 167Mhz more power, and the technology to make something like it is already available. Somebody please explain the attraction of this thing to me.

Simplicity.

IPad likely to be popular among business travelers and the middle-age

$1:
The device brings together functions common to laptops and smartphones in a new — and fun — form that lets people navigate the Web, flip pages of a digital book and create business presentations by tapping the iPad's screen. With 3G capabilities, the iPad would free business travelers from worry over finding WiFi hotspots. And the device would give them a nearly 10-inch screen for viewing company documents stored on servers at headquarters, eliminating the need for them to carry a heavier machine with greater storage capacity.

If I didn't have an iPod touch I might consider it. Everything I do with my iPod would be enhanced with an iPad except for listening to music. However $550 bucks is a lot of money for a pseudo netbook that you can't replace the batteries.

Yeah, I'd wait at least 6 months. The next version will be much better and by that time the price of this version will drop. However, having seen some of the ipad apps that wait may seem a long one.

I'd buy one if I had a crapload of disposable income. It looks pretty cool, just not worth it for me.
