Yet another fine example of our justice system.

$1:
As of June, he will have served five years, including time served before the sentencing, making him eligible for statutory release. Under the laws governing statutory release, federal inmates are automatically released after serving two-thirds of their sentence.

Two thirds? Not enough. Bad enough he was only sentenced to 7 years but to not even have to serve that much?

So, five years for stealing a vehicle, driving the stolen vehicle, driving drunk, stealing gasoline and manslaughter.

What a joke.

I remember when this happened... what a horrible way for someone to die. The good that did come out of it was the "Grant's Law" forcing people to pre-pay for gas.

I dont think that is a good thing at all... I still go to a gas station where I am fully serviced and dont have to pay up front.

I think it is a stupid law, that doesnt prevent people from doing stupid things. This guy should have never left his gasbar, he should never have jumped in front of the car. FIRST rule of working in a store... They can have your money, not your life.

The poor kid was a victim.
$1:
Social workers took Pratt from his mom when he was 12 because she was a crystal- meth addict and neglectful, court heard.
And the court reduced his sentence from 9 to 7 years because he's aboriginal. I mean this guy couldn't help himself, and he should have been sent to a sweat lodge and then given lots of money to ease his suffering.
