As of June, he will have served five years, including time served before the sentencing, making him eligible for statutory release. Under the laws governing statutory release, federal inmates are automatically released after serving two-thirds of their sentence.
Two thirds? Not enough. Bad enough he was only sentenced to 7 years but to not even have to serve that much?
So, five years for stealing a vehicle, driving the stolen vehicle, driving drunk, stealing gasoline and manslaughter.
What a joke.
I remember when this happened... what a horrible way for someone to die. The good that did come out of it was the "Grant's Law" forcing people to pre-pay for gas.
