B.C. Liberal's "death tax", geez how about B.C. Restaurants, Businesses.

The Liberals have their heads so far up their ass that they may as well be wearing their ass as a hat.

I will be voting BC Conservative if they can get organized.

In Ontario, Toronto will keep electing Liberals who will keep reaching into our pockets for more. We get the "pleasure" of an HST come July. 8O

In Quebec, as usual, separatists are saying that the federal are "stealing" us 2.5$B "because of the HST"... that we do not have. Sometimes they are VERY hard to follow.

So do we unless we can pull off a miracle and get the mandatory 10% of voters in everyriding to sign the petition.

But and that's a mighty big but, I'd love to see the weasels face when the NDP stands up and demands a referendum based on the petition.

I imagine if that happens we'll immediately see a major increase in our provincial income tax levels. Gordo wants money for his pet projects in the lower mainland and he's gonna get his pound of flesh one way or another.

You think the Conservatives will reverse the HST in Ontario if elected? Dream large.

No Government, Liberal, Conservative, NDP or whatever is gonna reverse the HST. None of them would want to have to pay back the billions of dollars that the feds are paying them to implement it.

Interesting option to consider in the next election. I sure as hell will NEVER vote for the NDP and the Libs have lost me, with the HST implementation being the icing on the cake. I work in the restaurant industry and it will become a matter of who will survive and who won't. I have to face the possibility of losing my job because of this and have begun to prepare for that. It really sucks.

I agree with Freakinoldguy that the HST will not get reversed by any future governments once in place and now it's just a matter of time before every province and territory imposes the HST.

It is sadly ironic that the implementation date is July 1st too.

But it's supported by the Federal Conservatives. Are you going to vote against the Conservatives in the next Federal election on this issue?

Nope. The problem here isn't Federal it's Provincial. It's the greed of the Provincial Governments that's causing them to go along with the Conservatives in implementing the HST.

I can't speak for Ontario, but my guess would be that if the Feds weren't promising Gordo 1.3 Billion dollars to implement it he wouldn't have touched the HST with a 10 Ft pole.

The Campbell Government has done such an unbelievable job in mismanaging the provinces finances that they're now grasping at straws in an attempt to pay off all their vote buying mega projects.

What everyone seems to forget in this whole scenario is that this is a Federal Liberal Bill which, even after cramming the HST down the maritimers throats made no difference in them getting reelected.

So why should it affect the Federal Conservatives. I'm pretty sure most people are cognizant of who's getting the payoff and benefiting the most from the HST and it isn't any Federal Party.

So it's not a Federal policy, but, oh wait, it's a Federal Liberal policy. I see, I see.

The HST is likely to be the death of the Liberals in Ontario too. Either that or the fact that they are becoming stale after 8 years of holding a majority.

Beej Beej:

McFly's reign of lies got stale after his 1st hour in office.
The sad thing is, the HST is a fiscally responsible move. Unfortunately, it's also being used as a very thinly disguised excuse to crank up the taxes.
I laugh when McShithead claims that Ontario will suffer a $2.4B shortfall after the implementation of the HST. Really? The HST will reduce a LOT of administrative costs associated with the tax collecting system, plus the increased tax rates on many items, plus a WHOLE slew of items that have traditionally been untaxed by the provincial gov't.
Only a politician could take something as positive as the HST and turn it into a goatfuck.
