Actually, what they're doing, is representing Canadian voters. That is who they work for, not a bunch of hippies from Brussels...

I say we ban French "Foie gras",
...made of the liver of a duck or goose that has been specially fattened. This fattening is typically achieved through gavage (force-feeding) corn.

$1:
Gavage-based foie gras production is controversial, due to the force feeding procedure and the possible health consequences of an enlarged liver that could be faced by the duck or goose. A number of countries and other jurisdictions have laws against force feeding or the sale of foie gras.

...but not Canada. :(

Any other suggestions as to what European products we could ban.

If anybody says Belgium beer, I'll find you and smack you across the head with a 750ml bottle of the stuff.

Gotta love the European hypocracy here. "We love furs but don't kill seals so we can have furs."
Europeans purchase more furs than anyone else on the planet.
And yes Raydan, I can think of at least one European product we can ban. The Euro-trash that comes here to protest.

The idea of serving seal in the Parliamentary restaurant is rather akin to the Japanese whaling for scientific research.

I have no issues with the seal hunt if the hunters are tightly controlled and they have a market to sell to. Government backing to support the hunt where the market doesn’t exist is frankly, stupid.

Yea well the new market is China, stupid.

If the Elk industry would have had this kind of government support, we would have a thriving Elk business in SK instead of a bunch of famers cutting their losses and pulling up Elk fence.

This is what our elected officials should be doing, going to bat for Canadians. Pushing the agendas of Canadians.

This move is anything but stupid, it's the kind of thing politicians do if they want to impress people like me.

I actually had a young thing I was working with tell me that she was very upset I was going deer hunting. I couldn't because they were so cute. Later that year I mentioned I was going moose hunting and she said "that's O.K., they are ugly."

I would love to watch an MP gag trying to eat seal to show they 'support' something.
They can show support for the street people too and put dumpster delicacies on the menu...
