Why don't they just let him build the bridge he half started to begin with? Seriously, he's already built the ramp that would connect the city to the bridge, bought off a shitload of properties on the Canadian side, including one very large apartment complex, and is more than willing to pay. Sigh.

The billionaire chap can certainly own the bridge, but unless he bends to the wishes of Canada there's no reason why Canada has to leave the approaches to it open. Close the approaches and end his revenue stream and he'll come back to the table to discuss matters in a more reasonable attitude.

Considering this is one of the BUSIEST commercial border crossings on the planet, that would only serve to hurt Canadian interests. I say ramp up the taxes on the part of the bridge that is in Canada. IF Mr Billionaire don't wanna sell it, we can still make him pay for it ;-)

As for the second bridge idea, I won't hold my breath. Been hearing about a second bridge for over 20 years now.

Forgive me, but I don't see why a sovereign nation needs the permission of a foreign geriatric Scrooge in order to build a bridge. If the old ba$tard won't budge then have your PM call up Obama and ask a favor.

It's moments like this when I am sure Canada misses the relationship that Mulroney and Reagan had. Mulroney could've called Reagan on his personal line and Reagan would've got it handled.

The second bridge hold up actually has little to do with the Scrooge( nicely put btw  ) When it comes to Windsor, all 3 levels of government have a nasty habit of twiddling their thumbs when it comes to doing anything for and with Windsor. It's like the bastard son of Canada that went to live with American relatives

And slightly off topic but we had a joke up here when Mulroney was PM.
What's 9 inches long and hangs between Bush Sr's legs?
Brian Mulroney's tie.

The billionaire dude is just a greedy pig, he needs a swift kick in the groin.

I think your idea of Canada closing the approaches and choking
this guy revenue stream is a good idea. It's a shame though that
that the Reagan-Mulroney relationship between the governments has faded otherwise a few phone calls and a little White House
"encouragement" would solve this problem.
