Was it a pop-up? These days it seems like ad companies are targeting me personally because all the pop-ups seem to be geared towards my location and my likes. Of course I realize that is just the program reading my ISP location and whatever cookies I may have.

I don't think it's an ip thing as I don't think an ip can be identified as gay ... or can it? Maybe I'm on a gay ip and don't know it . The Sun or whatever little program that selects what ad to run probably picked up on "gay" in the title.
