From another article
$1:
"PQ leader Pauline Marois is calling for a change that would limit access to English daycares to the children of parents educated in English in Canada.

She says the amendment is necessary because the presence of the French language in Montreal has faded considerably. "

Mmm, yeah. I got news for you: The French language is fading everywhere.

Sorry kenny but it is a dying language. Like it or not, but at this time the language used in business and air traffic control throughout the world is English. Maybe someday it will be Chinese but for now it is English. Without Quebecs discriminatory laws it would eventually die in Quebec as well.

lol. Oh man you're sensitive. Do yourself a favour (or maybe not). Sit down and google it yourself. French is on the decline everywhere...as in Belgium, Sweden and so on. It's a well known phenomenon and I didn't invent it just hurt your little feelweens.

Have you looked yet? Good. So no you know it's you who doesn't 'really know shit'.

Mnn, no. With or without language laws you will assimulate. Your language laws have done nothing but isloate you. More people in Quebec are speaking English all the time. Thus this new defensive 'amendment'.

How many Swedes spoke French in the first place? Also the reason French is used a ton in Belgium it's the language of at the very least 35% of the population everyday, as well as in the Walloon parliament, the Brussels capital region.

French in North America has maintained its presence simply by virtue of will by Francophones. Look at the Francophones outside of Quebec for instance, how many laws protected Acadians or Franco-Albertains, Fransaskois etc etc. It's hard to keep the language when you're alone or surrounded by people who speak another language, but even in small communities the language has survived. I would think that with a Francophone population the size of Quebec that crazy language laws like the ones proposed by the PQ in this instance are entirely unnecessary.

What's you point? That French worldwide and even in Quebec isn't in decline because there are millions who still speak it? Doesn't really change the fact.

Did you bother to google "French language decline" before coming here to remind me that many people still speak french in an effort to counter the fact that French is in decline world wide?

Here's a fact of demographics. French is either on the decline or it's growing. Ask that little voice in your head which one is more likely?

If I have to I'll bring back links but seriously, why? You know Google. "French language decline". Go ahead. i dare you. Maybe start with the French government.

Among the ten provinces of Canada, Quebec is the only one whose majority is francophone. Quebec's population account for slightly below 24% of the Canadian population, and Quebec's francophones account for at least 90% of all of Canada's French-speaking population

No, if you read what I said, you'd understand that all I meant was that the French language is still strong and in regular use, and if people are determined to speak it then they will regardless of laws or government intervention

Again, read what I said. Swedes never really spoke French, and that Belgium has a healthy French language. I never agreed or disagreed with your google search but if you want to go that route these were the only two credible links that I found:
http://www.brusselsjournal.com/node/3605
http://theworldwidedeclineoffrench.blogspot.com/

They both come off as reactionary blogs about mass immigration in Europe. Also if you google English language decline you get just as many people complaining about that subject.
