This past week of sailing has been un-fun.

There's something I don't miss since I moved to Toronto from the island. At least now I'm free to go where I want without having to be a hostage to BC Ferries.

But look at the downside, you had to move to Toronto. 8O

:? BC Ferries hardly held anyone hostage. The weather did.

I gotta agree with QBall on this Gunnair, it may have been because of the weather this time, but you know the only way to or from the Island is with BC Ferries. Their track record has been less than stellar for years now, what with constant breakdowns, delayed sailings and the occasional sinking.....and I ain't even gonna mention the food.....Remember, this is supposed to be part of the Trans Canada Highway system.

If you were to throw that out in a general discussion on BC Ferries, aye, I'd agree. The context of the story related to the storms that shut down the ferry crossings. That is not the ferry system itself holding Joe Public hostage. That's mother nature reminding us of our place in the food chain.

Since we were sailing around this past week, I'd have to agree shutting down the ferries made sense. It was un-good out there.

Don't forget fare hikes and breakdowns. If paying for the privilege of leaving and going to your home to join the rest of the nation which you supposedly belong to isn't being held hostage I don't know what is. At least have discounted fares for residents for Pete's sake.
