That's not Kenney's fault. He said this a week ago.

Anywho, I think this should be mandatory homework before you apply (or get) your visa.

I doubt parliament was open today and I doubt there was any real business hapening today. In fact, the picture says it was on Nov.4.

$1:
Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Jason Kenney speaks during Question Period in the House of Commons on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ont., Wednesday November 4, 2009.

Sound like it was the media who sat on this story.

Still much better than the last government who's only requirement of immigrants was they vote Liberal.

What a hyperbolic and factually incorrect statement. It was the Liberal government that instituted the points system and created the damn citizenship test, which includes plenty of questions about the Constitution and government. The only thing that seems new here is questions about the military, which Im not sure would really be all that relevant.

I could think of better mandatory tests more prevelent to assuring we get people who are likely to be good productive citizens.

Maybe they should make people in jail do this test.

Yep. The fact that this announcement states what the old policy entailed, or at least the one enacted in 1997 does that as well.

The CPC just wants to add additional knowledge questions concerning the military which does have some relevance.

Sure it's relevant.
None of the Immigrants I saw yesterday were wearing poppies, the majority of forces members are Canadian born that have families here for many generations.
I think they need to know that our forefathers fought 2 wars so there was a Canada for them to come to and I think they need to know the relevance our forces have in the world today.

If we can't make immigrants STFU for 2 minutes, then why would we want to teach them about the canadian military?

No Thanks. I chose not to in The Netherlands, and I would choose not to here.

Apart from my personal choice, I am far too old.
