France has become McDonald's biggest market in the world outside of the US, according to the chain. While business in traditional brasseries and bistros is in freefall, the fast food group opened 30 new outlets last year in France and welcomed 450 million customers – up 11 per cent on the previous year.

There you are. Le Louvre is merely catering to French gastronomic tastes. Saw a recent story on bistros. People are deserting them because they are expensive and unclean.

Second biggest market outside the US? I don't doubt it a bit, that was one of the funniest things I noticed when there. McDonald's restaurants are ALL over France and is usually the first sign you see when driving into a town of any size especially in the rural areas. The only time I stopped at one was in Paris, more out of curiosity but they are just like the ones here.

There is a difference! Well, with the Dutch ones, that is. Its been a while since I have been in France, so I forgot.
Anyway, in Holland, you get sauce for fries (not ketchup, but a yellow mayonaise-like sauce) and you cant pump your ketchup. You get it in little sachets.

They may offer different condiments but the basic menu and restaurants look the same. In the UK they also have malt vinegar which I've never seen in any other McDonalds. I use it at home all the time though.

Here McDonalds offers fried chicken, but you can't get a quarter pounder. No salads and the old fashioned fried apple pies....although they have sold me red bean pie by mistake...ONCE.

Thats the whole point of Mcdo.. same stuff all over.

Some small regional differences, but the basic setup is the same,
and you know what you are getting... 4 continents and counting.
