They’ve been doing this for years here, until the hay field across the street from our A&W was developed. During the deployment ( if that’s what you call it ) for the G8 Summit at Kananaskis there were 4 that stopped in for lunch.

Or is it called the G7?

Nice break from military food, what the captain doesn't know won't hurt him ;). Unless somebody with a camera takes a pictures and blathers about it to the press of course.

Anyways they should do it more often, give the soldiers a break from military food and military life. Also the civilians would love it. I know I would like to see a CF chopper, APC, Tank or even just a soldier up close taking a order at A&W, etc.

I'm sure some Lib will say that this was a Tory burger or that the "Canadian Forces" emblems looked too much like a Conservative symbol.
The ‘C’ gave it away.
The Liberals and Hedy Fry are the guardians of the letter ‘C’.

A bit ridenrainish don't you think? The Libs aren't complaining and any complaints will likely come from the top brass anyway.

As funny as this is, I doubt the military is too thrilled with this kind of thing and I think civilian authorities have a reason to be concerned with unscheduled helo landings in fields don't you think?

Should civilians be allowed to fly helos like cars going where they want?

No but they should be encouraged to do this once and a while to mingle with the people.
That would be an excellent move.

We used to take the whaler from the ship and go up to Six Mile House for some lunch and a few beers when we were in harbour at Esquimalt.

We used to run our rescue boat into harbour to the local burger joint for lunch. Even got a 10% discount because we were in uniform!

Wow. Was that on the Stettler or the Columbia?

We used the Rhib to go to Barb's for fish and chips.

The Yukon. Whenever we had to spend time in it sailing with OSUTs or had it out someone was making a run with it. Haven't you ever had the joy of rowing?

Whenever we were in the tropics there was a waiting list to take it out fishing or diving on the reefs and in the shallows.

Would there be a fuss if they were going cross country in a truck? If he broke no Canadian Navigation rules.......no big deal, in fact it's kind of cool!
A friend of mine who's a chopper pilot took me for a spin one afternoon during his normal work day. We landed in a restaurant parking lot and went in for lunch. People looked at us like we were spacemen, but other than that it was perfectly legal.
