14 days? Unreal.
Surprised the title does not mention "house wife" or "Tim Hortons server" or anything like that

Wait a second... This is a vague story.
First, how does anybody know she had kiddie porn on her computer (while she claims she deleted it soon after watching),
Second, what damage did all the questioning do to the kid
Third, if its on the net, and you do research, you stumble onto something, you delete it immediatly, what is the point?
Forth, she lost custody of her child for something she downloaded and deleted??

There must be a bit more to this story...

Putting her in jail does not solve the problem.

Her ISP would know.

So her ISP would know what she downloads, but not where she downloads it from... :?
That means the maker will go free, and the one that innocently stumbles upon it can go to jail and loses her kid. I dunno, doesn't sound fair to me.

I would really like to know who filed a complaint against her...

I gotta wonder at this womans mindset.
Curiosity is not an excuse, she had to know what it was to begin with, did she relly really have to see it to know what it entailed.
This reasoning would NEVER EVER work if a man claimed the same thing, single parent or not. I'm not buying it.

She didn't "Stumble across it", the first paragraph states that she intentionally searched for it.

I agree that someone who stumbles across it on the net should not face repercussions, Heres a good site with outlines
http://www.asacp.org/page.php?content=news&item=496
(I believe you can also call your local police if you do stumble across it and submit a report).

My point is tho (and yes, I agree, a man would never get 14 days, to serve whenever they please), that even though she searched for it, she deleted it and her son never got to see it. It IS on the internet for everybody to either stumble across it (sorry for the error earlier), and fail to report it, or to search for and watch it, and delete it.

What concerns me, is that she searched for it, watched it, deleted it, but still get jail time, while the ones that put it on there are untraceable. Or are they? If they can find out SHE downloaded it, why cant they find out who uploaded it? Who filed a complaint about it?

There's just too many ways for these pervs to hid thier trail when they upload this crap, the could be using cafe computers and data sticks, uploadign site through various untraceable email accounts like Yahoo and Hotmail. (Same as all the email personal data scams out there)

The benifit of reporting it is the off-chance that the child will be recognized and they can find the perps that way (as most producers are the kid's familiy members or friends of the family sad to say)
I think your right and this woman should not have received a jail term if she can be believed in her explanation, there could have been some other punnishment handed down.

I love porn as much as the next dude, I have never seen Kiddie porn, nor do I wish to, further to that, I have NEVER stumbled over it, nor do I know anybody who has (and trust me, I know some guys that surf porn ALL the time)

Regardless of whether they can find the scum that upload this shit, they do it because there is obviously an audience for it. She downloaded it, admited to it, now she needs to pay. I am sure the kid was interviewed in order to determine if anything else creepy goes on in the house hold. At the end of the day the kids online are the fucking victims, not this douchebag

Its a vicious circle. If there is a market, there are people who supply, but when there are suppliers, there will be a market. EVERY stupid idea sells. Sex has always sold, sex will always sell, and as long as the suppliers are not taken care of, there will be a market...

I totally agree the kids are the victims. They are BEFORE it is put on the internet. THey are victims the moment the adults think it is a nice idea to molest young kids, even BEFORE they come up with the idea to put it on the internet.
