This will be overturned with a challenge but that will take a year and by that time the Olympics will be over... crisis averted.

Yes, by all means we must not let the world see the real Vancouver. Our image may be tarnished or something. Everything is wonderful here, we are a big city but heavens no, we don't have any big city problems...

I was talking to a homeless dude in Montreal last time I was there who was afraid to go to the shelters and soup kitchens because they are dangerous either because of mentally unstable people or criminals. He got in a fight last time he was there and I can only say that he seemed like a pretty decent guy, only 22 years old or so and claimed to have only been on the streets for 2 weeks.

Me thinks the idiot who came up with this idea should be put in jail along with those that may vote for it.
Provide housing? They can't or won't!
So approximately 2,500 poor souls will be dealt with by cops who have no or very little training in dealing with the mentally challenged and a few so-called elite will dust off their hands and pat themselves on the back for a job well done.
This kind of BS does not make me a PROUD Canadian.

Some homeless people seriously do not like being indoors. We've had this same issue arise in Sacramento and it came out that a fair number of the homeless prefer to camp out. Really. Right now they're trying to get the city to sponsor a camp ground for them as opposed to a shelter. All they're asking for is a place to pitch a tent and then to have toilets, showers, and clean water available.

Our weather is far milder than Vancouver's so this is not a safety hazard. In Vancouver I can understand compelling people into shelters during extreme weather as a safety measure and to control costs for health care. Preventing freezebite and hypothermia is far cheaper than treating freezebite and hypothermia.

Victoria passed a law recently that you can camp at Parks as long as you pull down your tent at like 6 am or something.

We don't let people commit suicide... Kinda the same thing I suppose.
