This is obviously the work of the tri-lateral comission and the Illuminati, in kahoots with the jooos, to subvert and brainwash all our children.

I read the transcript. Sounds like an overall good message.

PENATRATOR PENATRATOR:
So what got people up in arms over this anyways?
I can answer your question, but in order to do it, I have to actually post you stuff from the right, and far right. So don't get mad at me if I show you something from say Michelle Malkin, OK?
The reaction began, not so much to the news of the coming speech to school children, as it did to the added information of an attached teaching guide to the President's speech. In fact HotAir.com says...
$1:
had the White House skipped the study guide and simply released the speech from the beginning, it seems unlikely that this would have created much controversy at all.
What they were worried about, and I know this because I got a link to this vid when the controversy first began, is something like this happening...
Specifically the right doesn't like that teacher's reaction to the little girl saying she'd vote for McCain, and they really didn't like the girl's reaction when the teacher told her McCain was going to see that her soldier father was going to stay in Irag for 100 years.
Shortly after 4:30 of the one below Malkin goes into basic details of the Right's objections to the underlying possibilities of such a speach, and the behind the scenes orchestrations.

That clip with the teacher and the McCain kid is sickening. We saw that before the election and it was just as bad then as it is now. If I recall, that teacher was fired but I wonder if she's back.
I agree that the teacher involvement can be a seriously biased thing. The fact that the Dems were against this under Bush is typical hypocrisy. Malkin is right as usual.

Of course. Who knew that the message of working hard and personal responsibility were Socialist messages?

but somehow when Bush gave a similar message in 1991, it was a "paid political advertising for the president" and a flagrant abuse of public money.

The original assignment that Obama was asking them to do which was "what can you do to help your president". I agree that title smacks of dictatorship type worship, not extreme but the undertones are there. Is it worth all the commotion not really. The problem is the right started complaining about the fact that he is addressing the students at all even though past presidents have all done it.

I agree that the President should not get into people's life but... is it really a story ? In french we say "chercher des poux". "Search for tiny things" or something like that.

Actually, and this will surprise you, the right doesn't seem to think so.
When the administration backed away from the teaching guide thing, the right blogs (or at least the ones I read) backed away from the story.
For example here's my personal fave. - http://hotair.com/. There's one mention of the story, but I think it's pretty fair. It even gives the whole unedited Obama speech, and mentions Reagan pushing politics in his old school speech.
Both those blogs we're covered with the story when the teaching guide was still in play.
This story is getting play today more for the evil, crazy right wing flavor that can be suggested from a few loons who said they were going to keep their kids out of school. In other words it's the left keeping this story alive.

Some conservative critics feared that the aim of the speech was to recruit US kids to the liberal cause and brainwash them with socialism.
