Um, Enlarge the pic of the Rangers in formation. Are those Enfeilds they are holding? Are we protecting are northern boarder with WWII rifles?

Indeed they are. Apparently they are quite effective as they able to handle the extremely harsh conditions better then most weapons.

Well that's true, you can run those things over with a tank, drag them behind a sub, wash them in the sand and still have them work for you. I mean granted its just an emotional reaction in this case but isn't it a little embarrassing on some level? I mean Cadets use those things for drill practice.

Embarrassing that arms manufacturers have yet to out do 100 year old technology? Yes, I would say so. ;)

There's no current market for well engineered, low maintenance rifles that cost almost nothing. We had tons of these lying around so handing them out made perfect sense. I don't know if we still have any FNFALs, if their all worn out or if these rangers would even want them.

I'd be guessing that range is the issue there. You probably don't really want to get close to polar bears even when you have 30 rounds. You probably don't want a .223 varmit gun either.

Yep, gotta love the Enfield. Good accuracy, good stopping power and rugged as hell.
