To say we are 'on edge' here in BC due to the wildfires already burning and constant threat of new ones, is putting it very mildly. Day after day we get up and pray that the weather will bring us rain and are disappointed when we hear only reports of more sun and hot temperatures. We thought 2003 was bad but this year is unbelievalbly scary. Responsible people are on the alert for the slightest infraction of the burning ban or brain-dead idiots throwing cigarettes out their windows. It is bad here people and we need all the prayers for rain and much cooler temperatures, that we can get.

So THAT's where yesterday's smoke here in the valley came from... Galena Bay!

$1:
Sucharyna said a few people have refused to evacuate, and the RCMP are working to ensure their safety.

This just pisses me off. WHY should the RCMP risk their lifes to ensure safety of people who refuse to evacuate? WHY should the BC taxpayers pay for the job the RCMP is doing for them? They are much more needed elsewhere, so get the fuck out of your house, or pay.

Environment Canada and The Weather Network are calling for 30% chance of rain Thursday/Friday in the Vancouver area as well as most of southern BC. I hope so, especially if we get get a good overnight rainfall. It's way too dry out there and the fire situation is getting out of hand. A couple days of rain will be wonderful, cleanse the air and water down trees, and hopefully help get those fires halted before too many people lose their homes.

Map

Thanks for the map.

This is alot of territory and when you consider these are only the fires the forest service considers "of note", it scares the living crap out of you.

I guess if they put in every fire that's burning in the province, the whole map would be one giant flame.
