time to start relocating problem bears in Churchill to a more northerly location.

Then again, whose fault is it that Canada hasn't had a more vigorous presence in waters we claim? I was always told as a kid if I didn't take care of my stuff, someone else would.

The idea that someone in the article suggested of sending Canadian soldiers up their with them is probably the best idea, for now at least. The government really needs to get things in gear and actually start all the projects it has planned instead of just talking about them.

Well they can't drop thme if the aircraft doesn't make it there. One or two F-18s should be able to take care of that.

Good a new source of food for the polar bears, they are hungry and Russians can be delicious.

$1:
But a leading Canadian expert on polar geopolitics expressed astonishment at the brashness of the idea at a time when Canada, Russia and Denmark are gathering geological data to determine ownership of the seabed around the North Pole under a UN treaty.

"The political sensitivity of sending a paratrooper drop at the North Pole?" said University of Calgary political scientist Rob Huebert. "(Consider) the political symbolism and the military capability that that shows — it's clear the Russians are very much increasing their assertiveness, and I'd say starting to border on aggressiveness, in terms of their intent to show their ability to have control of the Arctic region."......

..... Huebert sees more menace in such Russian actions in the Arctic, describing the country's two-track messaging on polar politics — typically striking a conciliatory tone internationally, but a jingoistic one domestically — as an "iron fist in a velvet glove."

They want aggression? Consider the action hostile and shoot their asses down.

Better yet, arn't we all getting sick and tired of the world shoving us around?

I think it's time we invade someone... take over Greenland or something.... just literally shock the crap out of the world.

But of course the CF-18 interception would work just the same. Turn em back or shoot them down..... let's start a war with Russia.... why not? XD (that's a joke.... I don't need literal explinations of the obvious)

More like a pickled taste due to the vodka in the blood system

The polar bears would be wasted.... of course getting body stoned from eating Canadians all the time would probably be a nice change XD

You're choice of vodka watermellon or pot brownies.

I like what Regina said about sending CF-18s up. Tell the Russians it's a symbolic Patrol and arm the things to the teeth with a pair of sidewinders and a pair of long range missles + fuel tanks. Basically enough to chase them all the way back to Russia.

Also, how are they getting back if they do land? Another plane going to pick them up, sub, walk, etc? Would be perfect for a multi-force exercise, including the coast guard, to show we have juristition over the area.

But thats up to the guys upstairs to decide. I hope they don't end up having their hands too tied. Would be kinda sad if we sent only a pair of planes and a company of infantry without bullets or missles.

I like this idea too. We'll call it a sign of our....respect for said Russian historic occasion. Maybe we'll drop a bomb or two nearby for some fireworks.
