It dosen't matter what the story is. The purpose of this was to zing Harper in the headline.

I would have thought that the G8 is out of step with Harper. Time for the Brits to kick Gordon Brown out of office.

Most of the G8 can only wish they were as well off as Canada.

I think the criticism raises interesting questions and also demonstrates that Harper doesn't just join lock step with the EU on popular issues. Rather he tends to put Canada as a country first and foremost rather than just jumping on board what ever is the the popular issue of the day for the EU. Africa is an important issue but with all of the money that has gone to help develop that country exactly what has been achieved? Politicians tend to measure success by what they've spent and not by what they've actually achieved and I think Africa is a good example of that.

On the carbon issue, Harper is actually standing up for the interests of our country by not arbitrarily jumping on board the Kyoto wagon in a time of recession when we can least afford to make rash decisions that will negatively impact our economy with out any perceivable results.

It's too bad the article didn't represent both sides of the issues but then who really cares what Brown thinks, with the state of his party and country he's really not one to speak.

i would think the economic crisis would take precedence over some climate change "theory". The economic crisis is real and is here now.

That would make sense to any rational person but who in the EU wants to concentrate on the economy when they can deflect attention away from their piss poor performance with gold nugget issues like global warming and Africa. If Browns not careful it will be his country that requires aid not Africa.

Common sense in politics? Impossible.

It's the Mop and Pail. They never have anything good to say about Harper or the Conservatives. Maybe the EU should be looking at the way we are handling the "recession" as we are in far better shape than the EU.

Gordon who? Since Tony Blair, nobody cares about the British PM, hell even Harper gets more spotlight.

Oddly enough that's actually a good thing. Who wants to be in step with countries who's economies are performing poorly but yet want to spend money on the very things that will hamper their recovery or flush even more money down the bottomless pit called Africa simply so they can stand up on the world stage and boast they spent all this money but yet never mention it hasn't made a damn bit of difference.

What? Didn't you learn your coalition math? Huge bailouts with bread & circuses are in. Obama proves that. Sure, deficits are bad. and those Liberals definately know that, but we can always raise taxes. Can't we?

While Iggy and Jack may only lust after Obama's popularity, some are noticing the backlash againt his monumental debt.
