The Ismailis also do a Canada Day breakfast in Edmonton every year.

We just finished up going to the Stampede yesterday. It was kind of funny because I think more ethnic Calgarians came out sporting Western wear than non ethnic Calgarians. The best was seeing a bunch of Sikh's wearing the Calgary Stampede cowboy hat paper cutouts over their turbans.

On that note, Stampede has become just way too expensive. I'm also a little disappointed with the fact that yet again the organizers have failed to really do anything for younger children. They touted Sunday as family day but the Stampede is anything but family friendly. There's practically nothing for younger kids (<7 years old), there still only 2 rides for kids under 38" and only anouther 2 for kids under 48" and at just under a dollar per ticket it costs you around $20 to $25 for a family of 4 to go on a ride that lasts only a couple of minutes and that's on top of admission. Other than the Doodlepops playing the Coke stage there wasn't anything for my kids to do other than play a few midway games.

I'll be taking my kids to Calaway Park next year instead, at least there the rides and games are geared for younger kids and it doesn't cost any where near what the Stamede soaks you for.
