We always worked Canada Day and then took a long weekend. If CD was in the middle of the week, all we ever needed was a couple of rain drops Tuesday night so we could phone into the office Wednesday morning to say it rained and we were out of there for 5 days.

Because most stat holidays are long weekends, I've always appreciated Canada Day ( and remembrance day) even more when they land on a weekday.

Personally I think it should be the first Monday of July so not only could we have a long week-end, but everyone could celebrate it. And it would be good for the economy.

im taking it as a long weekend... canada day wednesday, the hip concert thursday, spirit fest friday, two days to get over the hangover then back to work on monday
