This makes me wonder about the motivation of some of these activists.

I'm more concerned (considering their respective histories) how these two ever got back on the street.

This is definately a different situation, isn't it? But I guess some would say that in some bizzare form, justice was meted out to these two menaces to society.
She's deceased and he'll be going back to jail, where he likely should have remained in the first place.
