Not really. Not for me anyway. In the video you can hear them talking about using the taser before they've even approached him.

It was the RCMP who gave it to them......although not in a timely fashion. I think it lends itself to the credibility of the officers involved. I just don't want to see this turned into a witch hunt that needs someone hung because there was a camera there. The man had a criminal record and should not have been allowed in the country or on the plane to this country.

Only relevant because that's why they weren't clearing him to go which caused the violent behavior. Poorly handled from there without a doubt.

He was cleared. He could have left at any time. That's always been one of the big questions. Why the hell did he stay in there for so long, and why didn't security toss him out.

I completely support the actions of the police right up to the point they ignored him on the floor (when he died) and then lied about it all after the fact.

Why should he have been cleared if he had a criminal record? Considering his behavior I also think they were within the rules to use that force. After that you're right and they should be held accountable for all actions taken and not taken.
I don't understand why there is a problem with the discussion between them about using the tazer before they got there. I would think as a team going into an informed situation they should have a plan of action. I would think heading into something like that, not having some sort of plan would also be a disaster in the making.

Ah very true! I didn't address the fact they lied about the fact there was a discussion before hand, which leads to their over all credibility.

Hold the phone Irene. The news article said it was between RCMP senior officers and not between the tasering officers who arrived at the airport. Senior officers talking about whatever between themselves IS irrelevant to the situation at the airport.

Now, if the senior officers are discussing, "Constable So and So told me they had a plan to taser him before they went in..." then I agree, that's perjury and there's got to be some serious house-cleaning and jail time.

I'd like to see the contents of the email before rushing to judgement on it.

Perjury in front of a commision that's been empowered to lay misconduct charges against the officers is a fairly rotten and stupid thing to have done. I always go the extra mile to defend the police against all the left-wing police-hating scalphunters out there but these four, and possibly even their supervisors at HQ, sure haven't done themselves any favours if they deliberately fudged their testimonies.

Perhaps it's time to break up the RCMP altogether and require all the provinces to take over the policing of their own jurisdictions, including providing the on-site security at the major airports. The RCMP might be better suited to become more like the FBI and concentrate mostly on domestic intelligence gathering, anti-terrorism, and anti-organized crime instead of continuing on as a uniformed patrol force. Aside from another massive and costly investigation to find out what's structurally wrong with the RCMP it might be better to have them shed the more mundane aspects of policing altogether if they can't do these things right any more.

The rcmp are so used to manipulating the public and lieing to protect there good name and then investigating themselves. The video evidence did not seem all that important to them..BIG MISTAKE... To bad they did not try honesty instead of ARROGANTs.........
