30 billion over 50 years? Not exactly the largest chunk of change in the budget. I don't think AECL should be auctioned off or simply cut off, but privatised. If providing such critical services as inspecting bridge steel is so important, it'll make money. If it turns out what it does is not that important, the compnay will go tits up, and Harper will be proven right.

Privatize the nuclear industry? Are you nuts?
At least when they fire the whistleblowers you hear about it. You won't if it's private.
If they botch it, you'll pay for the clean-up regardless, a private outfit would just declare insolvency.
Add on there's not one company in the country could afford to buy it. Privatize it to the Yanks?
