They should say thank you, and sell them to a museam for $1. This guy is just grand standing and should not be given the time of day.

He does have a point, but this isn't the way to get it across. To attempt to use the Medals as a form of blackmail, demeans the value of these medals and people who have earned them, himself included.

Guy served his country, got injured in the line of duty, and is apparently being screwed out of his pension by his country. Good on him for making a stand, even if it means handing back medals. Easy for one to call it "grandstanding" if one does not have the courage to do it themselves.

I call it grandstanding because he is acting like a child, do you really think giving back his medals will do anything? It makes the news for a day or two then it drops off the face of the earth. If the guy really wanted to make a difference he would run for office and try to make the changes to the pension. I do agree the clawback is a pain in the ass, and is the number one reason why I wont be voting Tory in the next election. They are the ones who are stopping the bill from going through, and are not giving a good reason why.

He is using leverage on the GG. Seems he can't get anyone else to listen to him and he is willing to give some shiny to do it. Good for him for trying. It might not be in vein, the GG may be able to put a good word in for him with the right circles.

If acting like a child is handing back medals hard earned in shitty countries, doing a shitty job during a period of time when government's scrimped and sent troops on the least expensive missions for big political points, and being screwed out of fair compensation by said government after debilitating injuries, then good on him, and who cares what clueless civies think.

Acting like a child is handing back something to get a response from someone. It's your stereotypical drama play (ie The wedding is over! [fiance throws the engagement ring] ) You do know his medal was for a tour as an EME in Bosnia 2001... not really a shitty job during a shitty period of time, for Bosnia at least. It really doesnt matter, the public doesnt care much about vets except on Nov 11. We hear a lot about the people dying in Afghanistan but never about the injured. Also you can quit with the ignorant civi stuff, that's at best an easy dodge and at worst an ad hominem.

Yes let them speak no one wants to gag them, I just wont take him seriously when he is just being an attention whore. He might as well protest naked on parlament, he would get pretty much the same reaction as now but would be in the news longer.

Hopefully you would have realized by now that they likely don't give a bugger-allt what you think, and I doubt they'll suffer many sleepness nights if they knew you were tut-tutting and finger waving at them, in your most stern and disapproving manner, on an internet forum.

The same could be said about any post on this forum, what is your point?
