I've been doing this for over 2 years now. I can only get CBC HD OTA though.

My friend thinks i'm a fool but I think that scrapping the analog signal next year is a very bad idea. I don't watch TV a lot. I do it mostly for the news and for some tv shows. After the switch I will need to buy a digital module to get free tv even for Radio Canada. My friend thinks it's an advance in technology but I think that just another way to make me buy a digital to analog converter.

I have watched some HD tv on my father's "amazing-new" TV on christmas and personnaly, i'm not impressed. You see a lot decoding squares specially when things are moving fast (ie. hockey). Digital is great for DVD and satellite but "from the air", i'm not so sure of the broadcasting.

That is my opinion.

I agree pro. As an avid photographer I'm all for advances in picture quality, but HDTV isn't as good as it's touted. The best signal just doesn't get to the TV. I always notice the little decoding squares and on nature shows there are always the odd pixelation that comes and goes.
Unfortunately HD is about the best out there for now.

I have played 1080P video from my DSLR straight to the TV and the picture is way better than the HDTV signal so all I can assume is that the broadcast signal or the receiver or both, are degrading the signal.

If I had my way, I'd cancel my satelite TV subscription, go back to antenna. And,make use of this website more often:

http://www.free-tv-video-online.info/

( just be careful with the ads and popups, some of the chinese sites will get you in trouble)

who cares if I'm 1 week behind on primetime shows? Most of the time, I am currently several weeks behind, anyways.

The HD Signal you get from OTA is better wuality that that from the cable or satellite companies, since the have to compress the stream. So there is far less pixelation.

So far I have been totally unimpressed by satellite HDTV.
Pixellation seems to be way worse, way more often.
