You mean I would have to pay for it? I thought dirty oil producers from Alberta would cover all the costs.

The problem as I see it is that they tax fuel but don't give you an alternative. Drunky Campbell has taxed our heating fuel and our gasoline but hasn't offered us something to replace it with. He also hasn't invested that tax into research or infrastructure for existing cleaner fuels. In fact his carbon tax is extended even to propane fuel on vehicles. The only thing he's really done is make himself look green to enviro nuts and Californians.

On a side issue, I think Iggy's 'cap and trade' plan will hurt the Libs yet again.

The problem with Cap n Trade is we already know that's a dog from what happened in Europe, California, and with the Kyoto offset scam.

The advantage Campbell has with the tax is it's going to take a while before the full impact of it's stupidity can be tallied up. He'll be well into his next term before we get a full grasp of the complete tragedy.

So the question is; why does Iggy want to cap'n'trade here? Seems really self defeating already.

I think when they push Cap n Trade they're gambling on the ignorance of the electorate. Usually a good bet.

Cap n Trade has kind of a cosmetic attraction if you don't know anything about it. It sounds like those proposing the plan know what they're doing until you look into it. Cap n Traders don't think people will look into it. If they did, they'd discover Cap n Trade has a history of failure on multiple levels, will enrich a chosen few, while impoverishing the rest of us, and won't actually do much real climate cooling even if it achieves its targets. Plus when you boil all the BS away it's really nothing more than a tax with a fancy name. It does more harm than good - a lot more - but, Iggy, Obama, McCain and the others are betting people won't hit Google, or listen to those who have.

I think they're wrong. Browse around This Site, and you'll see Obama is meeting a lot opposition to his cap n trade plan, even from his own party.

Swarzneggar was able to slip it in before the all the info came out. Carol James has a sneaky trick of keeping her cap n trade plan relatively quiet by putting the public stress on critique of Campbell's carbon tax, but Obama is making the mistake of putting it out there for all to see gambling nobody will bother digging into it, to discover all its faults. Apparently Iggy is doing the same thing, plus, it sounds like he's making the mistake of actually campaigning on the plan. Rots o ruck.

Mmm, I agree with the 'ignorance of the electorate' bit but I think this will be the veritable achilles heel for Iggy and the Libs. It just goes to show how out of touch some politicos are.

I'm sure this will get a very bad reception in Ontario where job losses are the main focus.

Green issues are on the back burner here and it's reminiscent of fiddling while Rome is burning.
Not good for Iggy and the Libs. I was actually hoping for better.
