Really. I figured he'd have a little more common sense than Paul McCartney.

2006, hopefully he's come to his senses since. If not, maybe we can use a chunk of softwood lumber to beat some sense into him...

The Seal Population is booming and is at record numbers and increase. More than there were hundred years ago. Secondly the seal hunters were the ones who were killing the seals inhumainly which the Canadian Government put a stop too. The Seal Hunt now is no different that deer hunting infact even better since deer hunting is done for fun. While seal hunting puts actual use to the kill.

More importantly that a lot of baby seals die of starvation and get abandoned by there mother. A lot get eaten. The seals who get hunted would have probally died anyways. So aslong as the Canadian Government keeps ensuring the hunters kill them more humainly. I doubt we will have a problem with Obama unless PETA is still complaining and Obama wants to just win more popularity votes.

If he actually does protest it still, than fuck him. I supported a seal ban when the hunters were killing them badly. But as long as they kill them quickly and painlessly I don't see how anybody can have a problem with it. More importantly many animals are used for the same purpose and some are killed as poorly as the seals were. Where was the protest against euro fur trade? Only reason people take a interest in this is because seals are cut. Just a bunch of hypocrites.

I think every Canadian should go and buy the nicest Newfie-made seal-skin coat, jacket, boots, or mitts they can find just to royally piss off the wankers at PETA. It would also do a lot to boost the Newfoundland economy and simultaneously derail Danny The Dick's propaganda that the rest of us hate Newfoundlanders.

As for Obama, I'm going to put this one down as his Bob Jones University moment. He suckholed up to some jerks he shouldn't have had anything to do with and he oughta be embarrassed about it. Hopefully he proves to be smart enough to stay away from PETA and any other associated moron groups like them from now on in.

He said that in 2006 to help further his political career. What U.S. politician wouldn't support banning something that was happening in another country that was popular with their constituents. However now that he's at the top of the food chain do you REALLY think he wants to be bothered with this?

Every couple of years some inbred moron gets caught on film who has no idea how to kill the seal with the first blow or skinning a seal that hasn’t quite died.

I’m certain it’s improved dramatically over the years and it’s even more uncommon, but it only takes one to screw up the hunt for many years.

I’ve never had an issue with the hunt, and while there are those who are opposed simply because an animal is being killed. When the hunters stop giving the opposition the ammunition, maybe it’ll die down again.

Obama should have been more worried about the 800+ homocides in drug ravaged Chicago in 2006!

Can't Obama do something that I agree with? Just once? Actions speak louder than words, no matter how many times you repeat them.

Agreed, good post. R=UP

Baby seals are cute and they always like to show you pics of these wide-eyed widdle bundles of fluff to make you say awwwwww. Cows, pigs and chickens are all cute when they're babies too but the majority of us have no problem picturing them beside our potatoes when they grow up. My grandfather raised chickens and I remember watching butchering time on the farm, the old fashioned way - an axe and a tree stump. Quite brutal really, but they have to die one way or another, at least it was quick.

Wow. Other people around the world find something us Canadians do as vile, unethical, and just plain wrong. Of course we respond with a litany of retorts supporting our actions while simultaneously arguing our lives are our business.

We need to practice what we preach.

So does this mean you'll never complain about the U.S. in Iraq?
