When you act like an idiot and get into danger, you should be billed for the cost of your rescue, particularly in this case.

Because the big slab of ice was cracked so it only needed a good bit of wind to move it away from land and they were laying planks down to cross the cracks.

Very idiotic.

Up north you could walk down to the lake and jump over the crack and walk to the other side to fish but after awhile that big chunk of ice would move back and forth according to which way the wind was blowing.Sometimes you came back and the crack was now 30 meters wide,so they started dragging a boat across just in case.
Pics in my gallery. :wink: That ice was 8 feet thick and it moved around lots.

Yep, these people were dumbasses. That being said, I feel sorry for the family of the man who died.
