$1:
As if to prove his point, Ballmer also welcomed onstage program manager Janet Galore, who gave brief demos of some Microsoft product prototypes, including a tabletop-like touch screen and a flexible, wafer-thin digital screen you can roll up like a piece of paper.
Now that would be fucking cool!

"Best version ever" is usually about 10 patchs, upgrades, and versions after the original release...

I still find Vista to be the best, outside of the memory issue.

I want to see MS come up with some sort of compensation for those of us who got stuck/screwed with Vista when we purchased computers/laptops that came pre-loaded. I got a quote of a few hundred $$$ to change to XP. New harddrive and another copy of XP.

I really think Windows 7 will be the best. The benchmarks coming out from Beta1 already Beat XP and Vista on almost all tests.

7 may be alright. 98 was good, Millennium Edition sucked balls, XP was good, Vista sucked balls, so we're due for a good one.

Find a small, local vendor of misc parts. They may sell you an OEM copy on its own, or they may let you take one if you buy a new optical drive or something else relatively trivial you may need anyway. Could save a few bucks.
