tisk, tisk, these people obviously need years of counseling and deep psychological work done, in a facility where they can be monitored, warm, clothed, and fed 3 square meals a day. They need a work out facility in the building, because everyone knows, a healthy body = a healthy mind. And what the heck, why don't we let them take university programs, at no cost to them, then when they are done we give them a weekend off and a nice degree. lets not forget television and computers with DVD's, pornography, and access to current news so when they get out they aren't lost in the current events of the day. Oh and we must not forget....all the hash, weed, crack you can smoke!!

oh....they aren't deporting them to Canada to serve their sentence?...??? well....i guess they're pretty much fucked then.

It's amazing that some of the left actually thinks that way. Their beloved leader Lenin started the whole criminals are victims thing, when he staged his revolution.

He actually believed that all crime in the USSR would disappear when poverty was eliminated and they all lived in the great socialist state. I wonder how that one worked out.

Meanwhile he was rounding up anyone with a dissenting political view and either shooting them outright or sending them to a gulag for an extended holdiday.

With the exception of the rounding up and shooting, it kinda sounds like a certain Canadian political parties platform.

It looks like we have a precidence:

Court orders Iranian man blinded
A court in Iran has ruled that a man who blinded a woman with acid after she spurned his marriage proposals will also be blinded with acid.
The ruling was reported in Iranian newspapers on Thursday.
The punishment is legal under the Islamic Sharia code of qias or equivalence, which allows retribution for violent crimes.
The court also ordered the attacker, 27-year-old Majid Movahedi, to pay compensation to the victim.
The acid attack took place in 2004. The victim, Ameneh Bahrami, went to Spain for surgery to reconstruct her face but efforts to restore her sight failed.
The ruling was a response to her plea to the court in the Iranian capital Tehran for retribution.
"Ever since I was subject to acid being thrown on my face, I have a constant feeling of being in danger," she told the court.
Ms Bahrami also said that Movahedi had also threatened to kill her.
