A lot of poor people...native or not...are less likely to have ID than the wealthy. They are also more likely to move often, leaving them with ID without a current address on it.

The ID rules are nothing more an attempt to disenfranchise the poor, since they rarely vote Conservative.

I have ID, but because where I live the town will not send mail to my residence. As a matter of fact, the Post Office gets upset when the Box # and street address are on the envelope.

Elections Canada took my Box no. as my registered address... even though they were really not suppose to.

Most Elections Canada employees will work with you if you explain your situation.

It's kind of hard to put, "2-1/2 miles east on the highway, then take the grid road to the correction line and turn left at the PMU. You'll see the horses," on a driver's license, after all.

As I said... my drivers license has my P.O. Box listed on it... no street address.

Also, I had no mail addressed to my resident.. just the P.O. Box.

I was still able to register and vote.

Elections Canada wasn't supposed to accept ID with just a PO box on it though, tritium. Most of the rural people I know have a PO box on their ID. I don't know whether they'll have trouble voting or not, but it will be interesting to see if they have trouble, or who has trouble.

Until a couple of years ago I had a box number on my ID too. Canada Post changed that when they changed our mailboxes, but it could have been a problem even though I've lived here for 20 years.

It doesn't address people who don't have ID either. They have to find somebody to vouch for them. Yeah, like that isn't going to cause delays at the polls and discourage people from voting.

A lot of rental properties also have utilities included, so the tenants never get a utility bill. So they don't have the right ID and they don't have a utility bill.

This law should be thrown out and rewritten.

Rev this is what a rural address looks like.

Section 19, Township 57, Range 8, West of the 5th Meridian (also shown as SW19-57-8-W5).

Utility bills have that on them.

If renters dont get a utility bill then they get a rental bill, like I did when I was renting in Edmonton. Your sunk Rev there is no reason to not have two forms of ID. I have Government ID, all I had to show was my CF ID card and I was able to vote.

Give them the same rules for when they pick up the cheques and watch how fast they all suddenly have proper ID. What? Tell me I'm wrong
